The Henri II neo-renaissance style:
The artists of the XIXth century, nostalgic of the past, try to revive the old styles, like the style of Henry II who was a King of France who reigned from 1547 to 1559. This time of Romanticism and Historicism sees thus reborn under the form of pastiches the style of the French Renaissance of the XVIth century and the reign of Henri II. The furniture with carved decorations and the chairs with balustrades are typical of the living room furniture of this period. This style was in fashion from 1840 until the end of the 19th century.
