This lovely Louis XVI style mirror is decorated on its pediment with a laurel crown framing musical instruments including a lyre. As always for this type of mirror, it stands on two legs in the shape of pine cones. When decorated with white doves such mirrors were traditional wedding gifts.
This one is gorgeous and dates from the early 19th century.

Style: Louis XVI
Louis XVI, who reigned from 1774 to 1789, is remembered as the last absolute monarch. The French Revolution of 1789 overthrew the monarchy by divine right and Louis XVI was guillotined on January 21st 1793.
The Louis XVI style is classical, inspired by Antiquity, the shapes are geometric, the legs of the furniture are straight and light, often fluted. However, under the influence of Marie-Antoinette, the ornaments are enriched with musical and rural attributes, ribbon bows giving a delicate touch to the furniture.
