Nice engraving from "La Mode illustrée". This magazine was created in 1860 by Emmeline Raymond. It was intended for women of the bourgeoisie. The author gave her best advice to help women in many aspects of their domestic life (sewing, hairdressing or interior decoration) as well as advice on family and social life. Madame Raymond ran this magazine, one of the leading women's magazines of the 19th century, from 1860 to 1902. Her daughter Aline Raymond took over until 1937, when the magazine ceased publication. The magazine, with its high-quality illustrations, was a great success, even in the United States.
