This charming little tripod pedestal with its round marble top is typical of the Napoleon III style.
Its watertight, practical surface meant that heavy objects could be placed on it without risk of damage. It was used as a pedestal table for flower pots, green plants or decorative vases. This type of pedestal table was very fashionable in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
