This exquisite little "canapé corbeille" (basket sofa) takes its name from its rounded shape. Created during the reign of Louis XV, this type of sofa was part of the quest for comfort and intimacy during this period. Rather feminine, the corbeille sofa was placed in the "boudoirs" and near the fireplaces of 18th century salons. Its relatively small size made it easy to move around, which is why it is upholstered and moulded on all sides, so that it looks elegant from any angle.
This one has been reupholstered in a very delicate blue velvet and adorned with two cushions.
You probably don't have a fireplace, but it will look great in an entrance hall or in front of a window, for instance.

More Information
Style: Louis XV
Louis XV, known as the "Beloved" reigned over the kingdom of France from 1715 to 1774, he was the only king of France to be born and die at the Palace of Versailles.
The Louis XV style is characterized by its elegance and lightness. It is recognizable by the grace of the curved legs of the furniture with "pied de biche"(deer foot).
The wood is natural, gilded or painted. The "rococo" style ornamentation is inspired by nature and exoticism.
