This pair of "cabriolet" armchairs is in the Directoire style. As you can see from the photos, they are reverse-back models. The "cabriolet" armchair is a small, light lounge or boudoir chair. It takes its name from the 18th century horse-drawn carriages known for their mobility. In fact, this very practical armchair moves easily according to the user's needs.
I chose to reupholster them very classically in a velvet and satin striped fabric in vibrant green.

More Information
Style: Directoire
The Directoire style was a style of furnishing and decoration in fashion from 1789 to 1803. Marking the transition between the Louis XVI and Empire styles, it was characterised by sober design and simple shapes. The Directoire style continued the classical tradition of the Louis XVI style, but with a more austere treatment, heralding the Empire style without its heaviness. Simple forms, discreet curves and straight lines without rigidity are combined in great elegance.
