This stunning pair of "cabriolet" armchairs has been reupholstered in a fabric inspired by eighteenth-century fabrics with stripes and small stylised flowers. Its "gendarme hat" back is, along with the medallion, one of the most common shapes found on this type of chair.
The cabriolet armchair is a small, lightweight lounge or boudoir chair. It takes its name from the horse-drawn carriages of the 18th century, renowned for their mobility. This very practical armchair can be moved easily according to the user's needs.

Style: Louis XVI
Louis XVI, who reigned from 1774 to 1789, is remembered as the last absolute monarch. The French Revolution of 1789 overthrew the monarchy by divine right and Louis XVI was guillotined on January 21st 1793.
The Louis XVI style is classical, inspired by Antiquity, the shapes are geometric, the legs of the furniture are straight and light, often fluted. However, under the influence of Marie-Antoinette, the ornaments are enriched with musical and rural attributes, ribbon bows giving a delicate touch to the furniture.
