This pretty chest of drawers in marquetry is a "commode sauteuse à ressaut" (jumping chest of drawers with an overhang). The marquetry work, depicting large bouquets, is very elegant, whether on the top, the drawers or the sides.
A commode "sauteuse" is a small chest of drawers with two rows of drawers, raised on half-high legs that are generally curved. This elegant piece of furniture gives the impression that it has legs enabling it to jump like a frog.
The "à ressaut" chest of drawers is a chest of drawers where the alignment of the front presents a variation, a break. This type of chest of drawers appeared during the Transition style.
When it comes to furniture, as in the culinary arts, the French love precision 😊.

More Information
Style: Transition
The Transition style corresponds to the first part of the Louis XVI style in French furniture, it makes the transition (hence its name) between the novelty and originality of the Louis XV style, and the return to the classical inspiration of the Louis XVI style. In the second half of the reign of Louis XV and at the very beginning of the reign of Louis XVI this style is characterized by the abandonment of curves and movement of the Rocaille in favor of straight lines, purified and symmetry.
